The verdict
The Joma Rookie 2026 is a forgiving, lightweight entry-level racket built around a round shape and head-light balance that prioritises easy handling over raw performance. The EVA foam core delivers a soft, muted feel that cushions mishits reasonably well, making it accessible for absolute beginners finding their footing at the net, though it lacks the responsiveness and build quality that budget competitors from Bullpadel or Head offer at similar price points. Players just starting out will appreciate how little it tires the arm, but they will quickly outgrow its limited power ceiling and unremarkable construction within a season.
This delivers genuinely excellent power generation for a beginner racket, and the head-light balance promotes quick racket speed and real maneuverability. The EVA-foam core provides reliable comfort on off-centre hits. Control demands more player skill than comparable alternatives, and long-term durability along with material resilience aren't well documented: worth keeping in mind before committing.
