Tour-grade performance. The best carbon you can buy.
18K carbon (18,000 fibres per cm²) is the highest-grade carbon used in consumer padel rackets. You'll find it exclusively on flagship tour-spec frames from brands like NOX, Bullpadel, and Head — typically priced from €200 upwards.
The material produces an exceptionally stiff, responsive face. Every contact is efficient: less deformation means more energy transferred directly to the ball, giving you both extra pace on smashes and more precise feedback on touch shots. The trade-off is forgiveness — off-centre hits are punishing, and the vibration is transmitted more directly to your arm.
18K frames are for advanced players who already generate their own power and want the racket to amplify it without dampening the feel. If you're still developing your swing, the reduced sweet spot will cost you more points than you gain.
Performance carbon at a more accessible price.
12K carbon (12,000 fibres per cm²) is the sweet spot between elite performance and everyday usability. Most tour-tier frames from the major brands now use 12K carbon on the face — it's the standard for 'serious' padel in the €130–€220 range.
Compared to 18K, 12K offers slightly more flex in the face. This translates to a marginally larger effective sweet spot and more comfort on off-centre contact. The performance difference in real play is noticeable only to advanced players; for intermediate players, 12K frames routinely score as high as or higher than 18K frames.
If you're moving up from a fibreglass or entry-level carbon frame, 12K is the logical step. It delivers genuine tour performance without the arm fatigue or unforgiving contact that pure 18K frames can produce.
Entry-level carbon: real carbon performance at budget prices.
3K carbon (3,000 fibres per cm²) is the most accessible carbon grade, found in beginner-to-intermediate frames from €60 to €140. Don't dismiss it — even 3K carbon face material produces a noticeably livelier, more powerful response than fibreglass.
These frames are typically more flexible and have a larger, more forgiving sweet spot. The reduced stiffness absorbs more shock, which can be a genuine advantage for players managing arm or shoulder issues. Several 3K frames in our database score above 75/100 — perfectly competitive for recreational and club-level play.
For players under €100 budget, or those who are new to padel and prioritising forgiveness, 3K carbon frames offer genuine value. Look for round or teardrop shapes with EVA soft cores for maximum playability.
