Our verdict
An accessible beginner frame, the Starvie Basalto 2024 is a round, even-balance design at 385 g with an EVA foam core that prioritises ease of play and comfort over performance headroom. Power at 74 and control at 70 describe a balanced frame that builds confidence rather than specialist output. Maneuverability at 68 is modest, and the 385 g weight will feel heavy by the end of longer sessions. A solid first-frame choice for beginners learning the game. Our score: 76/100.
The round shape gives a genuinely wide, forgiving sweet spot that keeps mishits manageable for beginners, and the EVA core absorbs impact for a comfortable, consistent feel. The even balance stays stable and predictable across all court positions: this is accessible character that builds confidence rather than punishing developing technique. Fast net reactions come a beat slower, so positioning must happen early, and the weight will feel heavy deep into longer sessions; power and control are both honest but modest, without a high performance ceiling.
